Privacy Policy

This policy applies to the Fairgo Android app and usefairgo.com. Fairgo is provided by Berkan Eti under the developer name “Hitit Labs” (“Fairgo”, “we”, “us”). Contact the data controller at [email protected].

1. Data we collect

• Account data: email address, display name, internal user ID, account creation time, and account status. Fairgo does not see your password in plain text; our authentication provider processes it securely.
• Trip and expense data: trip names, people, invite codes, expenses, payers and participants, payment/debt records, amounts, currencies, dates, categories, edit requests, and their status.
• Notification and technical data: Firebase Cloud Messaging device token, request time, user ID, service errors, and security/operational logs. We do not use an advertising ID.
• Local data: offline trips and export files created by the app may be stored on your device. Data that stays only on your device is not sent to us.

2. Why we use data and our legal bases

• To create your account, authenticate you, and perform our contract;
• To sync trips and provide collaboration, expense splitting, editing/approval, and reporting;
• To send notifications about new expenses in shared trips when you allow notifications;
• To secure the service, prevent abuse, troubleshoot, and comply with law.

We rely on contract performance, legal obligations, legitimate interests in service security and improvement, and consent where required. You can disable notifications in device settings.

3. Visibility in shared trips

When you join a cloud trip, your display name and the expense, payment, and participation data you add or edit are visible to other members of that trip. A person with an invite code may see a limited preview before joining. Share invite codes only with people you trust.

4. Service providers and transfers

We do not sell data or share it for behavioral advertising. We use the following processors to provide Fairgo:

• Supabase: accounts, database, and real-time synchronization;
• Google Cloud: hosting the exchange-rate backend and operational logs;
• Firebase Cloud Messaging: notification delivery using device tokens;
• Google Play: app distribution and store operations.

These providers may process data outside Türkiye or your country of residence. Where applicable, we rely on contractual and legal transfer safeguards.

5. Retention and deletion

We retain account and cloud-trip data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Operational and security logs are kept for limited periods; provider backups expire on their own deletion cycles. Local data may remain until you clear the app's data or uninstall it.

Use Profile → Delete Account in the app. This deletes your account, profile, notification token, cloud trips you own, and their related records. Expense history you previously contributed to another person's trip may remain so the group can retain accounting integrity, but the account link is removed and the person's name is anonymized as “Deleted user.” You may also submit a request through our web deletion page.

6. Security

We use HTTPS/TLS in transit, authentication tokens, database row-level access policies, and service accounts. No system is completely secure; you are also responsible for protecting your invite codes, account, and device.

7. Your rights

Depending on applicable KVKK, GDPR/UK GDPR, or other privacy law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, request portability, and withdraw consent. Send requests from your registered email address to [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity. You may also complain to your competent data protection authority.

8. Children

Fairgo is a general-audience expense-sharing tool and is not directed to children under 13. Do not create an account if you are under 13. If the law where you live requires permission from a parent or legal guardian to use digital services or accept these Terms, use Fairgo only with that permission. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal data without the required permission.
